Fermented Sloths was a new-grunge/grunge-revival band formed in April or May (exact month unknown) 2007, by Dave 'The Useless' Wilson (alias) and James Schitt (alias.)
During September 2008, a collection of home recordings was formally released via last.fm as the band's debut album, McBoneyard of Christ. The album was expected to be rereleased at a later date, and to be engineered by Steve Albini of Electrical Audio , although formal recording dates were yet to be arranged.
On January 20th, 2010, it was announced that Schitt had, at least temporarily, been considered to have left the group. Wilson announced that he would continue making solo demos, in the hopes of reorganizing the band and fulfilling his goals of reaching new audiences with the Sloths.
On August 15th, 2011, a best of compliation entitled Time for Timer: The Best of the Sloths was released. Material ranged from the McBoneyard of Christ album to material from the unreleased b-sides/rarities album Maplejet to outtakes.
On March 31st, 2012, a note from Wilson was posted on the official Fermented Sloths facebook profile, announcing a return of the project after a period of inactivity and relative 'break-up'.
On October 7th, 2013, plans for an EP named Parables were announced by Wilson.
On January 1st, 2014, it was announced by Wilson that the Fermented Sloths name was retired for good, in favor of a new project labeled 'New Normals'.
